There are not many clients I work with that provide such an amazing opportunity to their employees and with this role you will spend a couple of weeks a year at one of the above manufacturing sights to help improve their automation.

My client is a leading developer and manufacturer of some highly refined vacuum products. With over 4,000 employees already around the world this allows my client to design, manufacture and support of exhaust management equipment. My client is also an integral part for manufacturing processes for: components, glass, pharmaceutical, chemical and for a large range of scientific instruments in an array of industries.

They are now looking for a Data engineer to join an integral part of the company, you will use your knowledge of analytics, ensuring that data from assets/instrumentation, and other business processes are standardized, stored and remain current in analytics data platform. This position will be working with fellow colleagues, but it will also be customer facing, in order take the data from equipment and processes accessible to analysts and data scientists.

Role: Data Engineer

Salary: Up to £45,000

Location: 98% remote (from the UK) but you will need to open to travel as you will be sent to one of the locations named above for a week at a time.

As the Data Engineer you will work closely with the data scientists to understand the characteristics, features and quality requirements needed to feed analytics algorithms or processing steps. You will also be ensuring that the data platform can provide the required data, by working with peers to acquire it, and developing the transformations and schemas and interfaces that help accelerate the development and testing of analytics algorithms.

Key Requirements:

-Competent with at lease one scripting or general-purpose programming language such as: Python, Bash, PowerShell or JavaScript.

-Experience with relational, NoSQL and Big Data storage formats such as CSV/JSN/Parquet/Avro)

-Experience of SCADA (Supervisory control and data acquisition) or Industrial IoT platforms (advantageous)

-Experienced in Microsoft office applications (especially Excel).
