My client is a world leader in the design, manufacture and installation of sensors and monitoring systems used in volatile environments.

The business, which employs over 100 people, is based on the outskirts of Reading and have an Engineering department of 40 people consisting of Mechanical, Electronics, Software and other disciplines. The company is on a sustained growth path and is looking for highly motivated individuals who can join their growing team. There is great potential within this role to quickly progress into a Lead role within the team.

This role is for a Mechanical Design Engineer to carry out a variety of bespoke solutions and experience in packaging electronic sensors for harsh environments. The ability to handle design projects from concept design through to detailed manufacturing drawings would be a huge benefit.

The ideal candidate will be willing to work on different aspects of the manufacturing process from design to low volume production. The company have an in-house 5 Axis CNC and a 3 Axis system used for both development and production work.

An important part of this role will be the use of the Solidworks CAD package. You will be required to carry out 3D Modelling (including the preparation of part and assembly files) plus 2D drafting using SolidWorks to prepare detailed drawings for part models for subcontract suppliers and general assembly drawings to support the manufacturing phase.

You will also be expected to support calculations both hand and computerised, including FEA, in order to be able to verify and validate designs to ensure we comply with all the latest ISO/BS/EN standards and produce reports to support findings.

In return, my client is offering a competitive salary of around £45,000 per annum, some remote working (currently being finalised) plus other great benefits.
