Are you an experienced Test Engineer?

Do you have experienced of electrical power systems for aircraft and would like to be a part of the future of air travel and work on electric aircraft?

My client is the leading specialist in the development of electric aircraft, pioneering sustainable flight and brining air-travel into the 21st century.

Due to rapid growth, they are currently seeking an Electrical Power System Test Lead to join their team based in Germany.

You will serve as the Team Lead for the Electrical Power System Lab (EPSL), a major integration and test facility for the aircraft. You will provide strategic and technical leadership and act as a single point of responsibility for the Lab. You will lead EPS' Integration, Validation, and Verification (IVV) program, and maintain a strong connection to the Integrated Product Team (IPT).
You will also hold responsibility for operation and maintenance of EPSL. Your tasks will cover the integration of the aircraft's all-electric powertrain, from battery to engine, including avionics control, high voltage and low voltage networks, and charging equipment. Additionally, you will challenge the Jet's design via electrical and data fault injection. By rigorously documenting test requests and results, you will ensure clear traceability of aircraft testing requirements for Type Certificate approval from EASA and FAA. You will be supported in your mission by a team of skilled colleagues in the Systems Testing Department.

Your day-to-day tasks will typically include:

  • Development of low level test rig requirements
  • Design and develop HIL test benches/rigs for the system and sub-system level tests of aircraft.
  • Development of HVDC P-HIL (power-hardware-in-the-loop) test rig on a variety of units under test (UUTs), including lithium ion batteries, battery chargers, electric engines, power converters and switches, and avionics computers.
  • Design automated test procedures to maximize the lab's time efficiency and troubleshooting capability
  • Design and develop emulation models for core avionics and Flight Control System.
  • Design and develop interface models to properly interact with the other sub-systems.

Your profile:

  • Hands-on testing experience in HIL, aerospace, powertrain, mechatronics, batteries, system integration, or power electronics, or similar technological area
  • Hands-on experience with Matlab/Simulink, Simulink-RT Modelling, Labview RT and interfacing electronic control unit features into HIL framework
  • Strong expertise in Matlab/Simulink, Simulink Real-Time and Simulink Test
  • Expertise with Speedgoat is a strong plus
  • Expertise with LabView / Veristand / TestStand and other National Instrument tools would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of digital communication protocols (i.e. CAN, CAN FD, Ethernet, ARINC-429, ARINC-825, Time Triggered Ethernet)
  • Familiarity with development and testing standards for aerospace (ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178, DO-160, MIL-STD-704) and lithium ion batteries (DO-311) preferred
  • Strategic-thinking, target-oriented with analytic problem-solving skills required
