Senior Microbiologist

Are you an experienced food microbiologist? Do you have expert knowledge in the pasteurisation of foods and beverages? If yes, then this role could be for you.

My client, a world leading Packaging company based in Oxfordshire are looking for Senior Microbiologist to provide expert microbiology and manufacturing hygiene advice the business units. You will also manage the microbiology lab providing support to development projects, customer and manufacturing plants as well being the expert in can spoilage and microbiological risk assessment.

In this role you will be the microbiology and hygienic manufacturing expert which comes with the responsibility of agreeing annual global testing plans, conducting audits, and driving global improvements in the hygiene standard.

During your time here, you will be developing the knowledge of expertise of the teams, with a focus on cross skilling and matrix working.

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have the following experience and skills:

• Trained food microbiologist, minimum degree level
• Qualified auditor (e.g. BRC)
• Microbiologist with at least ten years' experience of heat preserved food industry
• Heat processing and pasteurisation of foods and beverages
• Spoilage mechanisms of processed foods and beverages
• Recovery, isolation and identification of spoilage microorganisms to genus/species level
• Hygiene of food and beverage packing processes
• Hygienic manufacture of packaging and validation of in-plant controls
• Results focused problem solver
• Flexible and able to work at all levels of the organisation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organised and capable of planning complex programmes
