Exciting Opportunity: Data Engineer (Contract)
Our Client, a leading player in the technology and AI sector, is seeking a talented Data Engineer to join a high-profile project on a contract basis. This role is part of a strategic initiative to implement advanced Generative AI solutions, working with cutting-edge frameworks and tools. As a critical member of the project team, you will help shape scalable AI pipelines and provide technical leadership to a dedicated team, making a significant contribution to innovative AI deployment at a large-scale organisation.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and develop durable, scalable GenAI pipelines using Databricks and related frameworks.
  • Lead the implementation of advanced language models and AI use cases employing the latest generative AI frameworks.
  • Write, test, and deploy production-ready code independently, ensuring high standards of quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to a small team, facilitating daily stand-ups and task prioritisation.
  • Regularly update project leadership on progress, challenges, and upcoming milestones.
  • Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for reliability, scalability, and security.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in designing and delivering enterprise-scale Databricks-based GenAI solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with practical experience in LLM frameworks such as LangChain.
  • Familiarity with Databricks AI tools including Vector Search, Model Serving, MLflow, and SQL AI features.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks CLI, Asset Bundles, and integrating GitHub workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to code independently and deploy AI solutions in production environments.
  • Solid understanding of current generative AI patterns and production best practices.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in solution architecture and designing AI infrastructure.
  • Prior leadership experience in small technical teams, managing tasks and guiding team members.
  • Knowledge of solution planning and technical project management.
  • Additional experience with AI Gateways or other Databricks AI components will be a plus.
