Quality Manager – Space Systems

iO Associates are currently working with a company in the European space sector that is looking to hire a Quality Manager on an 18‑month contract in the Munich/Ottobrunn region.

This organisation contributes to major European launcher programmes and is seeking someone who can take responsibility for the quality assurance of complex aerospace hardware. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering environment, supporting development, manufacturing, integration, and acceptance activities for propulsion‑related components and other high‑reliability subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality assurance activities for a range of space‑system components produced at the site.
  • Support engineering, production, integration, and acceptance processes for propulsion‑related assemblies and precision hardware.
  • Conduct supplier audits and quality assessments at key European partners.
  • Prepare technical documentation and present findings to customers and project stakeholders in English.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, technical standards, and schedule commitments.
  • Maintain communication with customers and partners.
  • Apply relevant space‑industry standards and quality frameworks in daily work.

Requirements

  • Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Professional experience in quality assurance within aerospace, aviation, or other high‑reliability engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of space‑industry standards (e.g., ECSS or equivalent).
  • Experience with launcher‑related supply chains or test activities is an advantage..
  • Fluent German and English (Non Negotiable); additional European languages are beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel within Germany when required.
