Senior User Researcher – AI Transformation
6-month contract | Inside IR35 | £650 p/d
London Hybrid

We’re supporting a major UK Government department looking for an experienced Senior User Researcher to drive user-centred design for new AI-enabled services. You’ll work closely with delivery, policy and technology teams to ensure solutions are simple, effective and genuinely meet user needs.

What you’ll be doing:

• Engaging across central government and the wider public sector to influence and improve AI and digital standards
• Independently planning and delivering end-to-end user research in complex, uncertain spaces
• Selecting and applying the right qualitative and quantitative methods for the context
• Turning research into clear stories, insights, and actionable recommendations
• Communicating confidently with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and disciplines
• Championing user-centred practice and embedding it into agile ways of working

What you’ll bring:

• Previous experience working in a government department (essential)
• Experience engaging across multiple organisations or business units
• Ability to self-drive, plan work independently, and deliver at pace
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Broad research experience across different project types (policy, standards, services)
• Solid grounding in qualitative and quantitative user research
• Interest in or exposure to AI-driven change
