Freelance Opportunity: Data Abstraction Consultant (Biotech/MedTech)


Location: Remote (EU-based preferred) | Contract: 6 months | Day Rate: Flexible depending on experience

We're looking for a freelance Data Abstraction Consultant to support our clients in extracting meaningful insights from unstructured clinical and patient data - powering regulatory submissions, clinical trial design, and medical strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Work with CMOs, Medical Directors, and Regulatory teams to scope and execute clinical data abstraction projects
  • Extract relevant data from clinical reports, trial documents, legacy systems, and structured/unstructured sources
  • Structure, clean, and present data for use in regulatory documentation (e.g. EU MDR/IVDR), post-market surveillance, or early clinical planning
  • Build repeatable processes for data abstraction and reporting
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to translate medical needs into technical deliverables

What You Bring

  • A strong academic background (PhD/MSc/BSc) in:
    • Life sciences (Biomedicine, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, etc.)
    • Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or similar fields
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in biotech, healthtech, or medical device industries
  • High proficiency in Python for data processing and automation
  • Strong experience with visualisation tools (e.g., Plotly, Dash, Seaborn, or Power BI/Tableau)
  • Strong familiarity with medical, clinical, or regulatory data structures and documentation standards
  • Fluent English required; German a strong plus
