iO have partnered once again with a growing Defence company based in the South West who are looking to build out a Service Management business unit.

This is a long term client of iO's and this role offers the chance to work for a client whose technology innovation products and systems are supporting and improving the tech capabilities of the Ministry of Defence and other related Defence Industry partners every day.


As the Head of Service Management, you will lead the development and implementation of the company's Service Management strategy.

You'll be expected to engage both internally and externally with customers and stakeholders, whilst setting new standards for the client's platforms and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and establish the Service Management capability within the company by your significant industry knowledge and experience in ITSM Business Unit best practices.
  • Be comfortable working at both the strategic and high-level, whilst rolling your sleeves up and delivering other roles within a standard ITSM Business Unit whilst it is in its infancy.
  • Develop a comprehensive Service Management framework.
  • Build and mentor a growing Service Management team.
  • Able to lead and develop strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensure service delivery complies with industry standards.
  • Must be comfortable consulting internally to the internal stakeholders, as well as consulting externally, to their Client base within the UK Defence Industry, to promote and instil the client's new Service Management capabilities.

Key Experience:

  • Please note, given the nature of the work you must hold active Security Clearance to be considered for this role.
  • Must have experience working as a true Consultant via SME or larger Consultancies
  • Demonstrable experience at a "Head Of" or Principal level within the ITSM industry
  • Good understanding of the MoD and UK Defence Industry
  • Able to work through ambiguity, by looking at the high-level overview, consulting on the best forward path with the Senior Leadership, and then driving foward the delivery of the roadmap
