iO Associates is partnering with a globally recognised insurance and risk advisory business seeking a Power Generation Risk Engineer to join its world-class team. This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in power plant operations or engineering who's ready to transition into a technical advisory position that blends site expertise, client interaction, and global exposure.


What You'll Be Doing:


  • Conduct detailed risk surveys at conventional and renewable power generation sites

  • Analyse operational risks, safety systems, and business interruption exposures

  • Deliver reports and risk prevention recommendations to clients and underwriters

  • Manage survey programs and act as technical liaison between field engineering and underwriting teams

  • Learn from real-world losses and apply root cause insights to prevent future incidents

What You'll Bring:


  • 10+ years in power plant engineering, operations, or OEM manufacturing (boilers, turbines, transformers, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of safety standards, ideally with NEBOSH and ISO familiarity

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent)

  • Excellent communication skills to present technical risks and guide underwriters

  • Physically capable and willing to travel globally (up to 90 days/year)

  • Ability to interpret third-party technical data and apply engineering judgment

Desirable Experience:


  • Knowledge of gas turbines, thermal, nuclear, or renewable power stations

  • Experience in power generation construction/design projects

  • Prior work with insurance, loss adjusting, or technical risk analysis

  • Multilingual or experience working across global cultures
