iO Associates is proud to be working with a renowned UK-based engineering organisation in their search for a Mechanical Project Manager to join their Mechanical Handling Division. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of complex, multidisciplinary turnkey projects, managing them from tender through to commissioning.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Project Manager, you'll be responsible for the full project lifecycle of large-scale mechanical handling systems. This includes managing cross-functional engineering teams, preparing estimates and tenders, liaising with clients and suppliers, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end project management of complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects.

  • Leadership of internal teams across estimating, design, and delivery phases.

  • Preparation of technical and functional specifications and tender documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and statutory regulations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and external suppliers.

  • Ensure full compliance with contract conditions (e.g., NEC or similar).

Requirements

  • Minimum HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Proven experience managing complex mechanical engineering projects.

  • Demonstrable experience in project and contract management.

  • Experience with mechanical systems in large moving structures or mechanical handling.

  • Familiarity with NEC or equivalent contract frameworks.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and team management skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.

  • Working knowledge of the European Machinery Directive and statutory legislation.
