£450-£500 per day (Outside IR35)
Hybrid - Andover | 1-2 days on-site per week

Our client, a leading Defence organisation, is seeking an experienced Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support critical projects within the Land domain. You'll play a key role in ensuring safety assurance and compliance across complex Defence systems, working closely with MOD, DE&S, and Front Line Commands.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Safety Cases and Safety Management Plans in line with Def Stan 00-056, POSMS, and ASEMS.
Lead and support hazard identification, risk assessment, and ALARP justification activities.
Provide Safety SME input to design reviews, requirements management, and release-to-service activities.
Ensure compliance with MOD safety processes, governance, and assurance frameworks.
Engage effectively with key stakeholders across MOD, DE&S, and Front Line Commands.

Requirements

Proven experience developing and managing safety documentation within the Defence sector.
Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems and standards (Def Stan 00-056, POSMS, ASEMS).
Experience within the Land / Army domain (highly desirable).
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to deliver clear, concise, and auditable safety documentation.
Active SC clearance.
