Senior Optical Engineer

I'm currently supporting a Darmstadt based technology client in their search for a Senior Optical Engineer to lead the development of advanced optical systems for high-performance applications. Location: Darmstadt
Working Type: Hybrid
Contract Length: 12 months+

Key Responsibilities

Design and specify concept and detailed designs for complex optical systems
Lead integration of optical components with mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems
Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers
Develop and implement qualification and validation test plans
Research and develop novel optical concepts and solutions
Manage supplier relationships and external collaborations
Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and compliance

Ideal Candidate Profile

5+ years of experience in optical system design and validation
Strong background in high-peak power laser beam transport systems; ultra-short pulse laser experience is a plus
Expertise in optical materials, coatings, and testing methods
Proven leadership in multidisciplinary engineering environments
Solid understanding of precision mechanics and opto-mechanical integration
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
