iO Associates are supporting a well-established engineering consultancy as they seek to appoint a Senior Process Engineer into their process design team. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact energy and industrial projects from concept through to delivery.


As a senior technical figure, you'll be responsible for process simulations, equipment sizing, relief systems, and safety/compliance studies, while guiding junior engineers and acting as a key interface with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Deliver detailed process engineering work: PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, calculations

  • Carry out process simulations and hydraulic modelling using Aspen HYSYS, FlareNet, and Excel-based tools

  • Develop energy/mass balances, relief system design, and pressure drop calculations

  • Contribute to HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and DSEAR studies across projects

  • Ensure alignment with environmental standards, ATEX/DSEAR compliance, and regulatory frameworks

  • Support proposal development, scope definition, and technical input during FEED, EPC, and commissioning stages

  • Mentor and review work from junior engineers, ensuring quality, accuracy, and safety standards are maintained

What You'll Bring:


  • Degree-qualified in Chemical or Process Engineering

  • Proven experience in process engineering roles within EPC, energy, or industrial sectors

  • Strong working knowledge of UK legislation and compliance (HSE, ATEX, etc.)

  • Advanced user of AspenTech tools, including HYSYS and FlareNet

  • Experience with pressure relief calculations, heat exchanger design, pump/valve sizing

  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills
