iO Associates have partnered with a global FMCG business based in Leicestershire. They are market leaders in their product category and have well known household brands meaning they are a stable business that can offer progression and development opportunities that a lot of other businesses can't.

They are looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join their team on a Double days shift.


As the Multi Skilled Engineer you will play a vital role in the fast paced manufacturing operation provide technical engineering support to the production department. THis will involve both proactive maintenance, reactive breakdowns, fault finding and continuously improving plant performance, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Occasionally you may be asked to cover other Engineering Technician work including those other shifts. You will have accountability for the mechanical and electrical integrity of equipment by effective planned maintenance inspections, recommending improvements to maintenance schedules, supervising plant conditions and reporting any defects.

As a engineering specialist you will have input into team action plans and CI activities in relation to OEE and CBM and 5S. You will also get involved with training and assessing competencies of apprentices and junior team member in order to develop their engineering skills.

This is a multi skilled role, so you will need knowledge of both electrical & mechanical disciplines. You will be adaptable and ideally have gained experience in a FMCG/Food manufacturing environment, however engineers from other backgrounds will be considered.

To be considered for the role you will need:

  • Ability to clearly understand engineering drawings
  • Formal engineering qualification i.e. City & Guilds, NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical and/or electrical subject are
  • Mechanical and Electrical comprehension skills
  • Fault finding skills
  • Data analysis & interpretation skills
  • Risk assessment trained
  • Permit to work trained
  • Ability to train effectively
  • Sophisticated PLC Skills (highly desirable)

You will be required to work Monday to Friday on alternate day shifts: (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm). You will work one Saturday every 5 weeks (8-hour shift as part of a rota), and one night shift every 10 weeks. Flexibility of working hours as required for training, project work or to facilitate cross-shift initiatives. You will be expected to be part of an out of hours call out rota covering midweek/weekends and bank holidays where you will be expected to carry a Company mobile phone and be available to attend site in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.

In return you will receive a salary of £40,000 along with benefits including Life assurance, healthcare, pension scheme and much more.
