Electrical Engineer

iO Associates have collaborated with a tribology testing equipment company to help in their search for an Electrical and Electronic Design and Development Engineer.

You will play a key role in designing and integrating low-noise electronic systems using STM32 microcontrollers for scientific instruments, covering PCB design, EMC compliance, automation, and cross-functional product development.

Key Responsibilities:

Design low-noise, mixed-signal PCBs and STM32-based embedded systems; manage schematics, layouts, and external contractors.
Build and wire prototypes, ensure signal integrity, and troubleshoot electrical systems during development.
Conduct pre-compliance testing and ensure CE/UKCA standards through design-for-EMC best practices.
Develop structured STM32 firmware using FreeRTOS and robust comms protocols (UART, SPI, CAN, etc.).
Work closely with software teams, maintain technical docs, and support NPI with Git-based version control.

Requirements:

Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with solid grounding in schematic review, PCB tools (Altium/KiCad), and system design.
Hands-on with STM32, EMC testing, CE/UKCA standards, and design for EN 61010/61326 compliance.
Proficient in creating BOMs, wiring diagrams, and compliance records; experienced in cross-team collaboration and supplier coordination.
Strong diagnostic skills at board/system level using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
Familiar with PLCs, AutoCAD Electrical, Python scripting, and NPI processes.
