GIS IT Engineer
Location: Onsite in The Hague, Netherlands
Duration: 5 months (starting December 2025)
We are supporting a major international defence organisation on a confidential technology programme connected to NATO operations. This role will focus on maintaining, supporting, and improving enterprise-level Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that play a vital role in mission planning, data management, and operational awareness.
It's a great opportunity for an experienced GIS and IT professional to work in a high-impact, secure environment with advanced mapping and spatial data technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support for core GIS platforms.
- Manage the operation and maintenance of GIS IT environments, ensuring system performance and availability.
- Support installation, configuration, and upgrades of GIS software and enterprise systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex incidents, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
- Assist in user acceptance testing, documentation, and rollout of new releases.
- Provide technical training and support to system users.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve infrastructure, automation, and data integration processes.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, or GIS, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong knowledge of the Esri ArcGIS product suite (Enterprise, Server, Portal).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise system design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with virtualisation platforms (e.g. VMware) and scripting tools such as Python, ArcPy, or PowerShell.
- Experience working within secure or classified environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Eligibility to obtain a security clearance at the appropriate level.
