IT Project Manager - Police Force (South West England)
Location: South West England (Police HQ or regional offices)
Contract Type: Contract
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and public sector banding
Reporting To: Head of IT / Digital Transformation Lead
About the Role:
We're looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to join a forward-thinking police force in the South West. This is a unique opportunity to lead impactful technology projects that directly support frontline policing and public safety. You'll be driving digital transformation, improving operational systems, and helping deliver innovative solutions - including projects involving Artificial Intelligence.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Delivering IT Projects: Lead full project lifecycles - from planning and execution to post-implementation review.
- AI-Driven Innovation: Contribute to projects involving AI technologies, including automation and data-driven tools.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, external suppliers, and national policing bodies.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all projects meet GDPR, cybersecurity, and national policing IT standards.
- Budget & Resources: Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation effectively.
- Change Management: Drive adoption of new technologies across operational and support teams.
- Reporting: Provide clear updates to senior leadership on progress, risks, and outcomes.
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience managing IT projects in complex, multi-agency environments
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Background in public sector, ideally law enforcement or emergency services
Understanding of data protection, cybersecurity, and IT governance
Bonus Skills (Desirable but Not Essential):
Experience working with Artificial Intelligence technologies or projects
Familiarity with policing systems (e.g., Niche RMS, PNC, BWV platforms)
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, mobile tech, and digital evidence systems
Security Clearance & Working conditions
- Candidates must hold or have previously held NPPV3 clearance
- Hybrid working may be available
