About the role:

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer with a specialisation in Snowflake and DBT to own and evolve the company's data stack. The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter with a knack for problem-solving and a strong ability to learn new skills quickly.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing scalable data models and warehouses, creating and maintaining database objects, and ETL processes for loading data into Snowflake. Proven proficiency in SQL, database optimisation, and effective database security implementation is a must (working closely with Data Science team).

The role provides personal and professional development opportunities for an individual who can take on ownership and responsibility while integrating with multiple projects and priorities.

This role requires a confident individual who sees improving inefficient code and processes as a challenge rather than a chore, and who stays up-to-date on Snowflake best practices and new features. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys the challenge of working with Snowflake and is passionate about data engineering.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and build data pipelines in Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including the Data Science Team, to define data requirements and build the required data views
  • Optimise data ingestion and transformation processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data integration issues.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proven experience with Snowflake.
  • Proven experience with DBT

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Proficiency in scripting for automating deployment and maintenance tasks.
  • Understanding of DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) models and experience with Apache Airflow for managing complex data processing work-flows.
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices, including version control (Git), testing, and code review processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
