Senior V&V Engineer

Duration - 12 month contract ( possible extension)

A confidential client in the defence sector is seeking a highly skilled V&V / Prototyping Manager to take ownership of their verification, validation, and prototyping efforts across a diverse product portfolio.

This is a 12-month contract with a strong possibility of extension - effectively an ongoing engagement for the right person.

What You'll Be Doing:

Define and lead the V&V strategy across projects and platforms
Oversee prototyping activities, with support from a team of skilled technicians
Coordinate across internal labs, external test facilities, and certification bodies
Build and manage a supplier structure for ballistic, materials, and environmental testing
Cover a range of systems: garments, aramids, plastics, ceramics, composites, electrical components (e.g. battery packs)
Ensure all efforts meet industry and defence standards - compliance is critical
Drive transition from traditional line-oriented development to a more agile V&V process
Likely to manage shooting range operations - prior firearms handling experience is a plus

Ideal Background:

Solid experience in defence, munitions, ballistics, or related high-stakes industries
Strong grounding in mechanical systems, with integration experience across various materials
Deep understanding of environmental and ballistic testing, certification pathways, and lab coordination
Knowledgeable in materials science and protective systems (not necessarily a materials specialist)
Comfortable developing and executing V&V plans in dynamic, high-complexity environments
Experience with vehicle protection, aerospace seating, or similar applications is beneficial
