My client, is an established company that specialises in the design, integration and maintenance of equipment for the Defence industry. With a diverse portfolio of products, they are an attractive technology company driven by sustainable industrial progress.

They are no looking to expand their Technical Publicaions team with an additional Technical Author, your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Creation of data modules (xml language), validation, compiling and publishing in accordance with S1000D processes
  • The creation of technical specification requirements in respect to to technical documentation (User Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Part catalogue, etc.).
  • Monitoring technical publication inputs and activities from the subcontractors through to the internal and external teams.
  • Verification and Validation of the technical documentation with the various program stakeholders.
  • Monitor changes, corrections and amendments to the respective technical documents.
  • Ensure the necessary data to support both internal and external customer's program deliverables.
  • Coordinate with program stakeholders (Design Office, SES) involved in these activities, both internally and externally.
  • Prime interface for Technical Publication outsourcing control.
  • Oversee all aspects of technical documentation creation, including team member review, verification and production release
  • Provide regular updates on project status to project team and management. Proactively identify potential project risks with mitigation actions.

Therefore, I am ideally seeking candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Functional knowledge of S1000D processes, including:
    • Business rules development
    • Awareness of end-client style guides
  • Proficient in English written, knowledge of simplified technical english. Ability to communicate in French would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in creating technical documentation including FrameMaker, Arbortext Editor v6, Arbortext Publishing Engine v6, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Illustrator, FOSI Stylesheet, DTD, IETM Compiling Software, etc.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc...
  • Experience in the defence industry would be considered advantageous.
