Role Overview
The Project Engineer will play a central role in supporting and managing engineering activities for complex hydrogen energy projects. This position is vital to ensuring that multidisciplinary design, development, and commissioning phases are executed seamlessly, aligning technical objectives with project goals. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical coordination between process, mechanical, electrical, and control systems throughout project lifecycles.
- Act as primary technical liaison with both internal teams and external stakeholders, maintaining clear communication channels.
- Oversee the development and approval of engineering deliverables, ensuring adherence to project schedules and specifications.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to track progress, identify potential risks, and troubleshoot technical issues proactively.
- Ensure integrated system design across disciplines by resolving interface challenges and maintaining design consistency.
- Support the development of hydrogen energy technologies, including compression, storage, dispensing, and associated plant equipment.
- Participate in safety reviews, including HAZOP and LOPA, to embed risk mitigation within system designs.
- Maintain compliance with relevant standards and regulations such as ATEX, DSEAR, PED, and CDM.
- Contribute to the preparation of critical engineering documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, and operation manuals.
- Support procurement, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities with technical expertise.
- Manage engineering change processes to ensure project integrity and documentation accuracy.
- Build and sustain effective communication with internal teams, contractors, and external partners throughout project execution.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience within process, oil & gas, hydrogen, or similar industrial sectors.
- Demonstrable track record in delivering multidisciplinary engineering packages for complex projects.
- Strong understanding of process systems, pressure equipment, and instrumentation used in industrial environments.
- Experience in coordinating engineering outputs across various disciplines.
- Working knowledge of safety and compliance standards such as ATEX, DSEAR, PED, and IEC 61511.
- Hands-on experience in safety assessments like HAZOP or LOPA.
- Ability to review and ensure the consistency of key engineering documents, including P&IDs, control philosophies, and equipment specifications.
- Full project lifecycle support, from design through to commissioning.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Background in hydrogen energy systems or other gas processing industries.
- Chartered Engineer status or relevant professional accreditation.
- Familiarity with EPC or EPCM project delivery methods.
- Experience with design review, Management of Change (MoC), and E Change Order (ECO) processes.

Educational Background
A degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering is preferred. However, significant industry experience demonstrating relevant expertise will also be highly regarded.
