iO Associates is currently partnered with a leading aerospace innovator seeking a Senior ECS, HVAC, & Ice Protection Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, integration, and certification of atmospheric and thermal management systems for a groundbreaking new aviation program.
This is a rare, “clean-sheet” opportunity to shape the thermal architecture and cabin environment of a completely new aircraft from scratch. You will not be maintaining legacy systems; you will be defining the future of flight through advanced pneumatic and thermal integration.
As a key member of a dynamic team, you will lead the development of Environmental Control Systems (ECS), HVAC and Ice Protection Systems (IPS) – from initial architecture to final certification – ensuring the highest levels of safety and system efficiency.
Experience: 7+ years in aerospace engineering with a deep focus on one of the following systems: ECS, HVAC, and Ice Protection (IPS) design and integration.
Technical Expertise: Mastery of Air Cycle Machines (ACM), vapor cycle systems, cabin pressurization, and pneumatic/electric de-icing technologies.
Languages: Intermediate skills (B1 level or above) in French, and B2 level or above in English.
Certification: Strong knowledge of EASA/FAA regulatory requirements (specifically CS-25 / FAR Part 25) and certification processes.
Tools: Proficiency in design and simulation software (e.g., CATIA, Simcenter Amesim, GT-Suite, or similar 1D/3D thermal modeling tools).
Leadership: Proven ability to manage technical projects and mentor junior engineers within a cross-functional environment.
Education: Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Design & Development: Lead the architecture and detailed design of the ECS, HVAC, and Ice Protection subsystems, utilizing advanced simulation to optimize for thermal loads, weight, and power extraction.
System Integration: Oversee the seamless integration of Bleed Air, Air Conditioning, and Pressurization components into the aircraft platform, managing complex interface controls with propulsion and avionics.
Analysis & Simulation: Evaluate system performance, thermal management, and cabin air quality under extreme flight envelopes and failure conditions.
Testing & Validation: Define and execute rigorous test plans (ground, flight, and Icing Tunnel tests) to verify system reliability and regulatory compliance.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure all designs meet stringent aerospace safety standards (including DO-160 and ARP4754) and lead technical contributions in PDR/CDR.
Leadership: Serve as the technical authority for thermal and atmospheric systems, acting as the key point of contact for stakeholders and mentoring junior engineers.
If you are passionate about thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and cutting-edge innovation, please apply with your updated CV as the hiring manage is looking to arrange interviews immediately.
