Location: Exeter (Hybrid)
Contract: 12 months | Umbrella

A leading global architecture, engineering, and design consultancy is seeking an experienced Architect / Architectural Technologist to join its growing Exeter team on a contract basis. The role sits within a well-established regional studio delivering high-quality projects across education, commercial, energy, defence, and residential sectors.

You will be responsible for leading and delivering architectural design across multiple project stages, working closely with clients, contractors, and internal design teams. The role offers exposure to technically challenging projects and the opportunity to contribute to design excellence from concept through to site delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design delivery from concept through detailed design and construction.
• Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams, ensuring effective design integration and clash resolution.
• Work directly with clients and contractors, providing technical and design leadership.
• Produce, review, and coordinate detailed design information, specifications, and material selections.
• Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, RIBA Plan of Work, and project requirements.
• Support BIM coordination, model checking, and interface management.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and consistency across all outputs.

Requirements

• RIBA Part 3 qualification or CIAT accreditation.
• 5-10 years’ demonstrable experience delivering complex UK projects across multiple sectors.
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and the RIBA Plan of Work.
• Proven experience leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD (essential).
• Experience with BIM coordination tools such as Navisworks, clash detection, and model federation (desirable).
