Responsibilities

  • Design and implement industrial automation systems for production equipment, including PLC control systems, electrical hardware selection, and system integration.

  • Develop and maintain PLC programmes for machinery using industrial platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal / Step7 or equivalent PLC systems.

  • Create and review electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and I/O architecture for automation equipment.

  • Support the technical evaluation of automation solutions, including hardware selection (PLCs, sensors, drives, safety systems) and system design.

  • Participate in automation project planning and cost estimation, supporting quotation and feasibility assessments for new projects or machine upgrades.

  • Manage automation-related subprojects, coordinating activities between electrical, mechanical, and software teams to ensure successful delivery.

  • Provide automation support to production, troubleshooting PLC logic, sensors, actuators, drives, and communication networks.

  • Assist in commissioning, testing, and validation of automated equipment, ensuring systems meet operational and safety requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in PLC programming and industrial automation, preferably in manufacturing or production environments.

  • Practical experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens (TIA Portal / Step7), or similar industrial control systems.

  • Ability to design and interpret electrical schematics, control system architectures, and automation documentation.

  • Experience selecting and integrating automation hardware, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and safety devices.

  • Technical education in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent hands-on experience.

  • Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work systematically and independently within project teams.

  • High level of ownership, reliability, and commitment to delivering engineering solutions.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with SCADA systems and industrial monitoring platforms.

  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, EtherCAT, or Ethernet/IP.

  • Experience supporting machine commissioning, factory acceptance testing (FAT), or site acceptance testing (SAT).

  • Familiarity with integration of automation systems with higher-level production or control systems.

  • Previous experience working with testing, validation, or quality assurance of automation systems.

  • Experience coordinating automation subprojects or technical work packages.
