AWS Cloud Data Engineer
UK Remote | £60-85K Perm | Active eSC Clearance

Role Overview
Experienced Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and optimise cloud data infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines using native cloud services, IaC, orchestration for enterprise data operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision/manage AWS data services: S3, Redshift, Athena, Glue, Lambda, Batch

  • Implement Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Manage Apache Airflow orchestration workflows

  • Support GitLab CI/CD pipelines + Docker containerisation

  • Monitor S3 security scanning, access patterns, data ingress/egress

  • Support disaster recovery, performance optimisation for data engineering workflows

  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, SRE, Security teams

  • Troubleshoot incidents + maintain RBAC controls

Technical Environment
Core Services: S3, Redshift, OpenSearch, Athena, Lambda, Glue, Batch, Step Functions, SQS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EMR
Automation: Terraform IaC, Airflow DAGs, GitLab CI/CD (YAML), Docker
Security: IAM policies, RBAC, VPC networking
Scripting: Python, SQL, Bash

Essential Requirements

  • Hands-on AWS data services (S3/Redshift/Athena/Glue/Lambda)

  • Terraform IaC implementation

  • Airflow orchestration/monitoring

  • GitLab/GitHub Actions CI/CD + Docker

  • Python/SQL/Bash automation

  • AWS security best practices (IAM/RBAC/VPC)

  • Disaster recovery/backup experience

  • ACTIVE eSC clearance mandatory

Desirable

  • AWS Neptune, EKS experience

  • Jira Service Desk, Confluence documentation

  • Data engineering support background

  • Consulting delivery experience
