Data & AI Governance Specialist
Role Type: 12-month contract (Outside IR35)
Rate: £620/day
Location: Hybrid (travel to London 2 times a week required)
Clearance: Active SC clearance required
Context: Supporting an SME defence consultancy with data governance and AI compliance.
Core Focus:
Setting up and managing data governance tooling (Microsoft Purview, Collibra) covering catalogs, asset classification, glossaries, and lineage.
Working directly with data owners and stewards to handle day-to-day compliance and data management standards.
Running AI risk assessments, validation reviews, and regulatory checks aligned with frameworks like ISO 42001.
Building executive dashboards, scorecards, and governance KPIs.
Running governance committees, steering meetings, and keeping audit trails and compliance logs sharp.
Driving internal training and continuous process improvements.
Background Needed:
Deep, hands-on experience configuring Microsoft Purview and Collibra for cataloging, lineage, and glossaries in complex environments.
Strong track record of implementing data management frameworks and regulatory alignment.
Solid experience building executive-level reporting and performance metrics.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement, management, and communication skills to bridge technical teams and business leadership.
Experience in data stewardship, audits, and complex organizations (certifications like DAMA, Microsoft, or ISO 42001, plus Collibra experience are a bonus).
