Deputy Head of Flight Systems & Operations

iO Associates are currently partnered with a rapidly growing European space company developing advanced orbital technologies for commercial and institutional customers.

Following significant growth, our client is seeking a Deputy Head of Flight Systems & Operations to provide leadership across Flight Software, AOCS/GNC and Mission Operations teams. Working alongside a senior technical leader, you’ll help oversee 60 engineers through a structure of experienced team managers, while providing technical oversight, mentoring and support across multiple spacecraft programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Manage team leads across software, controls and operations functions
• Support schedule, budget and resource planning
• Provide technical oversight and challenge where required
• Mentor and develop early-career engineers
• Coordinate with suppliers and external partners
• Support future mission planning and business growth activities

Requirements

• Experience within the space sector
• Background in Mission Operations, Flight Software, AOCS/GNC or Systems Engineering
• Understanding of spacecraft operations and flight systems
• Previous leadership or management experience
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
