PHP Developer (Laravel) | North Manchester (Hybrid – onsite initially)

£45,000 – £50,000

We’re working with a long-established, financially backed business going through a period of modernisation across their product and engineering teams.

As part of that, they’re looking to bring in a PHP Developer to support and improve their core platform with a real focus on cleaning up, modernising, and moving things forward.

The Opportunity

You’ll be working across a core platform built in PHP (Laravel) and MySQL, helping to:

• Improve and modernise an existing codebase
• Introduce better engineering practices
• Support a move towards containerisation (Docker)
• Contribute to CI/CD improvements
• Work alongside the team as they gradually move towards cloud (AWS)

The team are actively encouraging the use of AI tools (e.g. Claude) to improve development workflows.

We’re looking for developers who:

• Are open to using AI to speed up delivery and problem solving
• Have started exploring how it can improve code quality or productivity
• Are generally curious and proactive about new tooling

What we’re looking for:

• Strong experienc with PHP and Laravel
• Solid understanding of MySQL
• Comfortable working across backend (with some frontend exposure – React nice to have)
• Experience or interest in:
• Docker / containerisation
• CI/CD pipelines
• improving code quality and structure
• Someone who enjoys making things better, not just maintaining
