Senior Python Full Stack Developer (DV Cleared)

Location: Cheltenham or Gloucester (in office 3 days a week)

Salary: £65,000-£85,000

Clearance: Active DV clearance required

The role

We’re working with a well-established organisation delivering mission-critical software for UK national security customers. They’re looking for a Python full stack developer to join a small, capable engineering team. You’ll build and maintain secure, scalable applications from API to front end.

You’ll design back-end services and user-facing tools that people rely on day to day. You’ll have real ownership of what you ship and a voice in technical direction.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and building REST APIs and back-end services in Python using FastAPI.
• Developing intuitive front-end interfaces with React and TypeScript.
• Modelling and managing data across PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Containerising and deploying applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Working closely with engineers, analysts and end users to turn requirements into working software.
• Contributing to code reviews, testing and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

What you’ll bring

• Active DV clearance.
• Strong commercial experience with Python and FastAPI.
• Solid experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Front-end development experience with React and TypeScript.
• A strong understanding of both PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work across the full stack.

Nice to have

• CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Cloud experience (AWS, Azure) or on-prem/air-gapped environments.
• Experience in defence, intelligence or government programmes.
