Electrical Systems Engineer – Contract

Location: Rugby – Hybrid (2–3 days per week on-site)
Rate: £70–80 per hour, Inside IR35
Duration: 6–12 months initially
Clearance: Active SC clearance required
Project: UK Eyes Only

We’re currently looking for an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join an exciting engineering project supporting the development and integration of electrical systems across marine and power generation applications.

You’ll be involved throughout the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and system architecture through to testing, commissioning and final delivery, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical system and control architectures
  • Define system requirements, FDS and ICDs
  • Work with high-voltage electrical systems up to 1kV AC / 1.5kV DC
  • Integrate electrical, mechanical, controls and power electronics systems
  • Support system testing, commissioning and performance analysis
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and procurement
  • Investigate and resolve technical and quality issues

Key Experience

We’re looking for strong experience in electrical systems engineering, ideally within a complex engineering or industrial environment.

Experience with the following would be highly advantageous:

  • MATLAB/Simulink
  • Speedgoat
  • Project planning
  • Active magnetic bearings
  • High-voltage electrical systems
  • Electrical system integration and commissioning

Contract Details

  • 6–12 month initial contract
  • £80–90 per hour, Inside IR35
  • Hybrid working – Rugby, 2–3 days per week on-site
  • Active SC clearance required to start
  • UK Eyes Only project
