Role: Embedded V&V Engineer
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Oxfordshire; Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite
Salary: Up to £60,000
We are partnering with a venture-backed startup based in Oxfordshire seeking a foundational Embedded V&V Engineer to join their growing team. In this role, you will report directly to the CTO and take genuine ownership of the testing and verification strategy for cutting-edge Runtime Assurance systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Execute V&V Strategies: Lead the verification and validation of safety-critical embedded software across various hardware architectures.
- Safety Standards: Support compliance with rigorous industry standards such as ISO 26262, DO-178C, or IEC 61508.
- Simulation-Based Testing: Integrate performance testing techniques using simulation tools like Gazebo and Rosbag.
- HiL/SiL Integration: Build and maintain Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) test environments.
- Analysis & Debugging: Perform static and dynamic code analysis using industry toolsets (e.g., VectorCAST, LDRA, or Polyspace).
- Collaboration: Partner with AI/ML experts and hardware engineers to ensure seamless system integration and requirement traceability.
The Profile We’re Looking For
- Embedded Background: A degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or similar, with a focus on embedded systems and firmware testing.
- Proven Track Record: Hands-on experience delivering V&V for high-integrity or mission-critical systems.
- Automation Skills: Proficiency in Python or Bash for building test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
- Testing Frameworks: Experience with Pytest, Gtest, or similar frameworks.
- Startup Mindset: You thrive on ownership, learn quickly, and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where seeing progress matters.
