Associate Flood Risk Manager

Location: Flexible Hybrid Working | UK-Wide

About the Opportunity

A leading international engineering and environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Flood Risk Manager to join its growing Water and Environmental Services team.

The organisation delivers major infrastructure, development, transportation, energy, and environmental projects across the UK and internationally. With a strong focus on sustainability, climate resilience, and innovation, the business works on some of the country’s most complex and high-profile projects, helping clients address challenges associated with flooding, urbanisation, and environmental change.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered flood risk professional looking to take a leadership role within a collaborative and technically respected team.

The Role

As an Associate Flood Risk Manager, you will play a key role in leading technical delivery, managing project teams, and supporting business growth across a diverse portfolio of flood risk and water management projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and delivering flood risk and hydraulic modelling projects from inception through to completion.
  • Leading project teams and mentoring junior engineers and consultants.
  • Producing and reviewing high-quality technical reports and client deliverables.
  • Undertaking and overseeing hydraulic modelling, hydrological assessments, GIS analysis, and flood risk studies.
  • Managing project finances, programmes, quality assurance, and change control processes.
  • Supporting business development activities, including tender preparation, proposals, and client engagement.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across environmental, planning, and engineering disciplines.
  • Contributing to the ongoing growth and technical development of the flood risk practice.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Essential

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent).
  • Significant experience delivering flood risk assessments and hydraulic modelling projects within the UK.
  • Strong project management experience, including commercial and financial responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following:
    • InfoWorks ICM
    • Flood Modeller
    • TUFLOW / ESTRY
    • HEC-RAS
  • Strong understanding of UK hydrology and FEH methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills.

Desirable

  • MSc or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure and development projects.
  • Track record of winning work and developing client relationships.
