iO Associates are currently partnered with a company who specialise in advanced digital signal processing for satellite payloads and are looking for a freelance FPGA Engineer to join their engineering team.

This role offers the chance to work on low Earth orbit systems, contributing to high performance digital signal processing and FPGA development within a fast moving, innovation driven environment.

Please note: To be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to work full-time as a freelancer in Germany.

Key Responsibilities:
You will support the design, development, and verification of FPGA based processing modules for advanced satellite and avionics applications. The work spans concept development, DSP implementation, simulation, integration, and testing.

• Contribute to the design and development of FPGA modules using VHDL or Verilog
• Support the implementation and optimisation of digital signal processing algorithms
• Participate in simulation, verification, and integration activities
• Collaborate with electronics, software, and systems engineers across the development cycle
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to design and testing

Your Profile:

• Experience in FPGA design and development using VHDL or Verilog
• Background in digital signal processing (implementation, simulation, or optimisation)
• Exposure to FPGA platforms such as Xilinx MPSoC, RFSoC, or comparable technologies
• Knowledge of tools or languages such as MATLAB/Simulink, embedded C/C++, or similar
• Understanding of SoC architectures, real time systems, or embedded processing
• Strong communication skills in English or German (both are desirable)
