We’re supporting an engineering business building advanced FPGA-based computing and embedded processing systems. They’re growing their team and are looking for an FPGA / Embedded Systems Engineer to work across design, integration, debug, verification and hardware validation. This is a hands-on role with real lab and board-level activity, so a hybrid pattern with regular on-site time is expected.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and verify FPGA designs and supporting embedded firmware
• Implement and integrate digital comms interfaces (high-speed and board-level)
• Integrate FPGA fabric with embedded processors and (where applicable) OS/RTOS
• Support board bring-up, lab debugging, test and verification
• Produce technical documentation and contribute to qualification activities

What we’re looking for (essential)

• FPGA development in VHDL / Verilog / SystemVerilog
• FPGA flow experience: simulation, synthesis, implementation, timing closure
• Embedded C/C++ plus processor–FPGA integration experience
• Confident reading electronic schematics
• Interface knowledge: DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, SERDES
• Protocols: SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, RS-422/485
• Practical hardware debug / bring-up in a lab environment
• Working in Linux development environments, using Git

Nice to have

• Vivado/Vitis or Microchip Libero SoC
• Embedded Linux/Yocto and/or RTOS exposure (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, RTEMS)
• RISC-V or ARM SoC architectures
• AXI/AHB/APB, DMA, shared memory concepts
• Space/aerospace awareness (e.g., fault tolerance, radiation mitigation, ECSS)
