Freelance SAP BTP / ABAP Developer needed – Remote – Germany

We are looking for an experienced SAP BTP Developer with a strong ABAP background to support a German SAP consultancy on an upcoming customer project.
This is not a traditional ABAP maintenance role. The consultant will use their knowledge of existing SAP environments to design and build modern cloud-based applications, integrations and extensions on SAP BTP.
Key responsibilities
- Develop applications and side-by-side extensions on SAP BTP
- Build solutions that integrate with SAP S/4HANA or existing SAP environments
- Develop and enhance ABAP-based components where required
- Work with ABAP Cloud, RAP, CDS views and OData services
- Support clean-core and extensibility strategies
- Develop applications using CAP, SAPUI5/Fiori and Cloud Foundry
- Design and consume REST, OData and SAP APIs
- Collaborate with functional consultants, architects and customer stakeholders
- Troubleshoot technical issues across BTP and ABAP environments
Required experience
- Strong commercial SAP BTP development experience
- Hands-on ABAP and ABAP Objects development experience
- Experience building extensions for S/4HANA environments
- Good understanding of clean-core principles and SAP extensibility
- Experience with ABAP Cloud, RAP, CDS views or OData
- Knowledge of CAP using Java or Node.js
- SAPUI5/Fiori development experience
- Strong understanding of APIs and SAP integration patterns
- Confident working independently within a customer-facing consultancy environment
- Fluent English communication skills
Desirable experience
- SAP Integration Suite/CPI
- Event Mesh or event-driven architecture
- SAP HANA Cloud
- Experience migrating traditional ABAP developments towards BTP or clean-core architectures
- German-language skills are beneficial but not essential
This would suit an experienced ABAP developer who has made a genuine transition into BTP development and can demonstrate hands-on delivery across both traditional SAP and modern cloud environments.
