Google Cloud Application Operator
12-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | £450 – £500 per day
Hybrid – 3 days onsite in Central London
An experienced Google Cloud Application Operator is required to support the delivery and operation of secure cloud services within a large-scale government programme.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, support and maintain applications across Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Support applications running within secure cloud environments, including Google Distributed Cloud (training and support will be provided where required).
- Monitor application health, performance and availability using Google Cloud Operations Suite.
- Support deployments through CI/CD pipelines.
- Perform operational activities including configuration changes, patching, troubleshooting and performance monitoring.
- Manage IAM, service accounts and cloud security policies.
- Work closely with engineering, architecture and security teams.
- Support application deployment, migration and testing activities.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Commercial experience supporting and operating workloads within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with Kubernetes/GKE or containerised applications.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Good understanding of cloud networking, IAM and operational best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in secure or highly regulated environments is desirable but not essential.
Desirable
- Exposure to Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) or an interest in learning it.
- Google Cloud certifications.
- Experience within government, defence or other regulated sectors.
- Knowledge of secure cloud architectures.
