Senior Grant Moderation & QA Lead

Our client is a specialist consultancy supporting the delivery of large-scale public sector programmes across the UK. They work with government and public sector organisations to deliver fair, transparent and robust grant assessment and funding processes. Due to continued project growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Grant Moderation & QA Lead to support the quality assurance and moderation of grant assessment activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals in grant moderation, quality assurance, evaluation, audit or public funding to play a key role in ensuring funding decisions are consistent, evidence-based and fully auditable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support moderation and calibration sessions.
- Review assessor scoring for consistency, accuracy and compliance.
- Challenge unsupported judgements and identify scoring variance.
- Support consensus scoring and funding recommendations.
- Review written feedback for quality, neutrality and evidence.
- Maintain moderation records and quality assurance documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve assessment quality and consistency.
- Ensure compliance with assessment criteria, governance and confidentiality requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in grant assessment, moderation, quality assurance, evaluation, audit, procurement evaluation or public funding.
- Experience supporting or leading moderation panels.
- Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to review evidence objectively and challenge constructively.
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining clear and auditable assessment records.
Desirable
- Experience within skills, employment, education or wider public sector funding programmes.
- Knowledge of capital projects or technical grant assessments.
- Previous experience working within local or central government, grant-making bodies or other public sector organisations.
