iO Associates are supporting a growing organisation in the space sector that is looking to hire a Ground Segment Software Architect to join their team in Strasbourg. This organisation delivers advanced software solutions for satellite and ground segment operations, supporting mission critical systems across a range of space programmes including Earth observation, communications and in-orbit services.

This is a hands on position that combines software architecture, system design and customer facing solution development.

You will work closely with customers to understand their technical and operational requirements, design ground segment solutions and support technical discussions throughout the sales cycle. You will also collaborate internally with engineering and product teams to ensure solutions are aligned with both customer needs and platform capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to understand requirements and challenges
• Design and present ground segment solution architectures
• Support technical discussions, demos and proposal development
• Build prototypes and proof of concepts where required
• Work closely with engineering and product teams
• Contribute to the development of scalable and robust system solutions

Your Profile:

• Strong experience in ground segment systems, mission control or satellite operations
• Solid software engineering background, including APIs, system integration and cloud based architectures
• Hands on technical experience in development, system design or integration
• Ability to work closely with engineering teams to design and build practical solutions
• Comfortable discussing technical solutions with stakeholders and customers
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex systems clearly
• Knowledge of CCSDS, ECSS or other space industry standards is beneficial
• Exposure to AWS, Azure or GCP is advantageous
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern software delivery
• Experience contributing to solution design, technical proposals or customer discussions is desirable
• Experience working on space agency or public sector projects is a plus

This is an on site role with a requirement to be present five days per week. The position is available to start as soon as possible, and relocation support can be provided for the right candidate.
