Head of Technology (Data, AI & Engineering)

Location: Bath (on-site 2/3 days a month)
Salary: Up to 130,000 (depending on experience) plus benefits

The opportunity

They are seeking a Head of Technology as the current person in this position is retiring. In this role you will lead and shape the technical function and drive delivery of an exciting roadmap of AI-based products, product iterations, new features and technical enhancements. This is a senior leadership role with real influence-setting direction, driving technical excellence, and building a high-performing culture aligned to business goals.

What you’ll be doing

• Set the technical strategy and priorities in line with wider organisational objectives
• Lead and develop technical teams, creating a culture of performance, learning, and engagement

• Lead a transition to AI-based products, making architectural decisions which address short-term revenue goals and long-term scalability
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement across systems, processes, and delivery practices
• Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure technology supports growth and operational efficiency
• Oversee delivery planning and execution to ensure technical scope meets business needs
• Manage internal/external stakeholders, suppliers, and technical budgets/resources
• Stay current on relevant technology trends and introduce improvements where valuable

What we’re looking for (essential)

• Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role (Head of Technical / similar) across engineering, data, AI and IT functions.
• Strong track record overseeing complex technical operations and/or projects

• Strong technical literacy across modern web technologies, AI platforms, cloud infrastructure and data systems.
• Demonstrable ability to lead, coach, and scale teams
• Deep understanding of technical standards, delivery processes, and best practice
• Confident communicator across technical and non-technical audiences

This is a very senior level role where you will be fundamental to the businesses growth and helping them to innovate their product offerings
