Integration Technical Analyst | Higher Education
3-month contract | Outside IR35 | ASAP start

Have you helped a university connect its systems and turned complex integration requirements into clear specifications developers can build from?

I’m working with a consultancy that needs an experienced Integration Technical Analyst to support integrations across Higher Education systems. This is an urgent requirement, with an initial three-month contract and a start as soon as possible.

You’ll work with university stakeholders, system owners, architects and developers to understand business processes, analyse existing integrations and define how data should move between systems.

The work goes beyond capturing requirements. You’ll specify what triggers an integration, which system owns the data, how fields map and transform, what happens when processing fails, and how the finished integration will be tested and accepted.

What you’ll be doing:

• Running workshops with business and technical stakeholders
• Writing detailed user stories and testable acceptance criteria
• Producing source-to-target data mappings and interface specifications
• Defining transformation, translation and validation rules
• Documenting integration flows, dependencies and exception handling
• Specifying retry, reconciliation, logging and monitoring requirements
• Supporting developers and testers throughout delivery

What you’ll bring:

• Higher Education experience, ideally involving student records or other university systems
• Strong technical integration analysis experience
• A track record of producing detailed data mappings and implementation-ready specifications
• Confidence interpreting API documentation, database schemas, messages, files, configuration and logs
• Understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration, ESB/middleware and event-driven patterns
• The ability to move comfortably between business processes, data and technical detail

Experience with student records, timetabling, attendance, VLE/LMS, admissions, student portals or identity management would be particularly relevant.

If you’re available at short notice and this sounds like a good fit, apply with your CV or contact Michael Collins at iO Associates for more information.
