iO Associates are currently partnered with an innovative and rapidly growing space technology organisation that is helping to drive the future of small satellite missions. Due to continued project growth, they are seeking a Mid Senior / Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their established engineering team and play a key role in the development of next-generation satellite platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to work across the full satellite lifecycle, from early-stage design and analysis through to integration, testing, and launch preparation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a highly technical environment.

 

The Opportunity

 

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, analysis, and validation of mechanical systems for advanced satellite programmes. You will work closely with systems, electronics, software and integration teams to ensure robust and reliable solutions are delivered to customers across commercial, governmental and research sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical structures, assemblies, and mechanisms for satellite systems.
  • Perform structural and thermal analyses to validate designs against mission and environmental requirements.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings, manufacturing documentation, and technical reports.
  • Conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, and design trade-offs.
  • Support prototype development, assembly, integration, and verification activities.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Participate in environmental and qualification testing campaigns.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Strong experience in mechanical design and structural analysis.
  • Working knowledge of thermal analysis methodologies.
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar.
  • Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and precision engineering techniques.
  • Previous or current experience within space or other highly regulated engineering sectors.
  • Knowledge of satellite integration and verification processes is desirable.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
  • Exposure to environmental testing programmes.
  • Programming experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar engineering tools is desirable.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing and precision machining techniques is desirable.

 

About You

 

Our client is looking for an engineer who combines strong design expertise with analysis capability. The ideal candidate will have experience across at least two of the following areas:

  • Mechanical design
  • Structural analysis
  • Thermal analysis

 

You will be a proactive and adaptable engineer who enjoys working in collaborative project environments and is comfortable balancing multiple technical activities simultaneously.

 

Location & Travel

 

This position can be based in either Denmark or Luxembourg.

 

Engineers based in Luxembourg should be willing to travel regularly to Denmark to support satellite integration and testing activities. International applicants are encouraged to apply, with visa support and relocation assistance available where required.
