Photonics Technical Lead

I am hiring on behalf of an exceptional, fast‑growing deep‑tech startup in North Rhine‑Westphalia that is building cutting‑edge photonic technology powering next‑generation quantum computing and other high‑performance applications.

Following strong commercial traction and major funding wins, the company is scaling its engineering organisation by around 50% over the next 12 months and they are now looking for a Photonics Technical Lead who wants to shape ground‑up hardware innovation in one of Germany’s most exciting quantum‑friendly environments.

You willl be joining a highly technical, multidisciplinary team working at the intersection of photonics, cryogenics, high‑speed electronics, and advanced packaging, with direct influence on system performance and product roadmap.

Role responsibilities:

• Lead design, development, and optimisation of photonic components for quantum and high‑performance systems.
• Work hands‑on across photonics, cryogenics, and high‑speed electronics, guiding design decisions at device, module, and system level.
• Drive technical direction for packaging and integration of electronic components.
• Influence long‑term product architecture and technology strategy.

Candidate experience and profile required:

• Strong Photonics background required
• Practical experience with packaging techniques in harsh requirements
• High-speed electronics
