Principal Data Engineer/Architect, Bristol/ London / Watford

I’m currently exploring the market for a Principal Data Engineer / Architect to support a strong, collaborative engineering function. Bristol-based candidates are preferred, but we’re also open to talent from the London / Watford area. This is an opportunity to help shape data capability at a strategic level, working across multiple engineering squads.

Successful candidate will have:

• Deep experience in data engineering and architecture, with strong fundamentals and a principled, agnostic approach to data
• Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic oversight
• Collaborative and coaching mindset, able to develop engineers and influence capability across squads
• Comfortable working in agile environments and managing uncertainty
• Pragmatic, business-value focused approach

Tech Stack (essential):

• Databricks
• Azure Data Factory
• Python
• Spark
• Modern big data ecosystem experience

We’re open to candidates from either an engineering-heavy or architecture-heavy background, provided they bring strategic influence and technical credibility.

• Bristol preferred, but London / Watford candidates considered
• Largely remote, with occasional travel to Bristol and London
• Permanent, long-term hire
