Overall Project Planner (m/f/d) – Shipbuilding

Location: Emden or Wilhelmshaven, Germany
Contract: Full-time (35 hours/week) | Permanent

iO Associates is currently partnered with a leading maritime engineering and shipbuilding organisation that is looking to strengthen its production planning capability with the appointment of an Overall Project Planner.

This role sits at the heart of shipyard operations and offers the opportunity to play a key role in coordinating, planning, and controlling complex shipyard activities. You will act as a central interface between project management and specialist departments, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and smooth execution across all ongoing and upcoming projects.

About the Role

As Overall Project Planner, you will maintain full visibility of shipyard activities and resources, anticipate constraints, and actively contribute to improving planning methods and digital tools. This is a highly influential role within a technically demanding and collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding, Mechanical Engineering, or a technician-level qualification
  • Practical experience in shipbuilding, ideally within design, production, or production planning
  • Alternatively, relevant planning experience in mechanical engineering or plant engineering environments
  • Strong interest in process management and production organisation
  • Experience using planning and engineering tools such as ACOS, MS Project, and CAD systems
  • Good English language skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan, and control all shipyard-related processes across projects
  • Act as the central interface between project managers and specialist departments
  • Maintain a holistic overview of ongoing and future shipyard activities
  • Plan and manage shipyard capacities, including personnel, docks, workshops, and other key resources
  • Identify bottlenecks early, assess impacts, and develop effective mitigation measures
  • Continuously monitor project progress and analyse deviations between planned and actual performance
  • Provide regular reporting to shipyard management and project leadership
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of planning methods, processes, and software tools
  • Support standardisation and digitalisation initiatives within production planning
  • Improve transparency, efficiency, and reliability of project control
