iO Associates has partnered with a leading delivery organisation within complex infrastructure to hire a Civils Quality Control Inspector to support delivery across a highly regulated infrastructure environment (nuclear experience preferred).

This role takes ownership of Civils Quality Control activities across assigned work packages, ensuring compliance with project specifications, contractual obligations, Quality Plans, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). You’ll provide on-site and supplier surveillance, ensuring work is completed by SQEP personnel and evidenced through accurate, timely quality records. You will also support the NEC4 Supervisor, undertaking inspection, witnessing, and surveillance activities and providing objective evidence and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute and report QC inspections in line with specifications, Quality Plans and ITPs
• Attend Kick-Off Meetings and Pre-Inspection Production Meetings (PIPMs) as required
• Support supply chain pre-assessments and capability reviews
• Monitor adherence to approved procedures, Quality Plans and ITPs during manufacturing/construction
• Ensure only SQEP personnel undertake works, inspection and testing activities
• Witness/verify inspections, tests, and Factory/Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT) including hold/witness points
• Verify calibration and control of inspection, measuring and test equipment
• Raise and define NCRs, deviations and concessions with clear technical detail
• Produce inspection reports and communicate progress, risks and issues to the Quality Engineer/Quality Manager
• Ensure Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) are generated and verified concurrently with works
• Support final inspection, certification (e.g., Certificates of Release) and contract close-out documentation
• Act as QC inspection support to the NEC4 Supervisor, providing evidence and recommendations on acceptance/defects/compliance

Requirements:

• Relevant technical qualification aligned to the discipline (e.g., Civil / Construction / Inspection)
• Typically, 5+ years’ inspection experience in manufacturing, construction or installation environments
• Experience in a highly regulated environment (ideally nuclear / nuclear licensed site expectations)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specs, Quality Plans and ITPs
• Strong understanding of inspection techniques/processes (civil/construction; exposure to welding/NDT/coatings/electrical beneficial)
• Confident producing accurate inspection records and using electronic reporting systems + MS Office
• Strong communication style with a firm-but-fair approach on site/supplier engagements

Desirable / Bonus:

• NEC4 experience (particularly supporting the NEC4 Supervisor function)
• Experience approving special process procedures/technique sheets (e.g., welding, NDT, painting) where authorised as SQEP
