Join Our Client as a SC Cleared Security Assurance Consultant (SbD)

iO Associates are currently looking for an SC or DV Cleared Security Assurance Consultant (SbD) to work on a Defence project and start ASAP (August / September)

The client is offering £600 – £650 a day (OUTSIDE IR35) for an initial 9 month contract (likely extension) and you’ll be asked to travel to customer site once a fortnight to the South of England.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security assurance activities aligned with the Security by Design (SbD) principles.
• Review and verify security architectures and implementations against industry standards such as NIST, JSP 440, and JSP 604.
• Assist in identifying potential security risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with technical teams to embed security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Prepare detailed security assurance reports and documentation.
• Participate in regular security reviews and audits, ensuring compliance with UK government standards.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of emerging security threats and solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Valid SC (Security Clearance) with recent or active status.
• Proven experience in security assurance, particularly within secure system design and implementation.
• Familiarity with industry standards including NIST frameworks, JSP 440, and JSP 604.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex security architectures.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of producing clear reports and presenting findings.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities in a contract environment.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience working within government or defence sectors.
• Knowledge of Secure by Design (SbD) principles.
• Previous consultancy or advisory experience.
• Familiarity with risk management frameworks and tools.
