Role Overview

Due to strategic growth and evolving project demands, our Client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer to join their dynamic agile delivery squad. This is a crucial role involved in creating and enhancing large-scale, secure digital services for a government client. The position offers an exciting opportunity to influence public sector digital transformation by working on cloud-native applications, legacy modernisation, and implementing best practice security protocols within a Microsoft Azure environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimise full-stack applications utilizing .NET Core and Python
• Architect and build RESTful APIs aligned with microservices and API-first strategies
• Integrate secure DevSecOps practices into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
• Lead code reviews to ensure high standards of security, quality, and functionality
• Contribute to legacy system modernisation from older Windows/.NET Framework environments
• Produce comprehensive technical documentation and architectural artefacts
• Ensure all solutions meet WCAG AA accessibility standards
• Collaborate closely with architects, senior developers, and delivery managers within an Agile framework

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with C# including OOP, design patterns, and SOLID principles
• Extensive professional experience with .NET Core 10.0 and .NET Framework 4.8
• Proficiency in Python including dependency management and service development
• Strong understanding of REST API design and lifecycle management
• Practical experience with Azure cloud services, DevOps pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep)
• Solid background in secure development practices, including SAST/DAST and OWASP standards
• Ability to work effectively in an agile environment with excellent collaboration skills
• British nationality or 5+ years’ UK residency, with SC clearance (or eligibility to obtain it)

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience working with legacy Windows technologies such as WPF, Win32, or COM
• Knowledge of geospatial data formats like GeoJSON, MBTiles, or GML
• Familiarity with secure design standards aligned with NCSC guidelines
• Previous experience within the UK public sector or government digital services projects
• Geospatial tooling and data pipeline skills in Python

Location & Working Arrangements

The role is based on-site in Taunton, Somerset, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. Flexibility around remote working may be discussed.
