SC/DV Cleared Technical Lead

London (Hybrid) | Outside IR35 Contract | SC or DV Clearance Required

We’re supporting a major public sector transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to provide technical leadership across complex delivery teams.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading engineers, shaping technical solutions and working closely with architects and delivery teams to ensure secure, high-quality outcomes. While you’ll have a strong technical background, the focus is on leadership, technical oversight and successful delivery.

Location: London 2-3 days / week
Rate: Up to £650 / day Outside IR35
Contract Length: 12 months initial
Clearance Required: Active SC (minimum)

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight
• Work closely with architects, product managers and delivery teams
• Review technical designs and implementation approaches
• Mentor and support engineers across the team
• Drive engineering standards and best practices
• Support Agile delivery and continuous improvement
• Help resolve complex technical and delivery challenges
• Contribute to technical planning and engineering roadmaps

Experience Required:

• Proven experience leading engineering or technical delivery teams
• Strong background in software engineering, cloud or platform technologies
• Experience working within Agile environments
• Comfortable working across multiple technical disciplines
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Passion for developing engineers and improving team capability
• Delivery-focused with a pragmatic approach to problem solving

Desirable Experience

• Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP or private cloud)
• DevOps, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
• Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Secure system design and modern engineering practices
• Public sector, defence or other highly regulated environments
