Senior Antenna Engineer

iO Associates are partnering with an innovative and fast-growing organisation at the intersection of space and telecommunications, currently seeking a Senior Antenna Engineer to join their team in Toulouse.
This is a key opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation satellite communication systems, supporting the delivery of high-performance, globally scalable connectivity solutions.

The Role
As a Senior Antenna Engineer, you will play a central role in the design and development of advanced ground terminal technology. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from early-stage simulation and prototyping through to integration, validation, and performance optimisation of antenna systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and design of advanced antenna systems, including phased arrays and reflector-based solutions for millimetre-wave applications
  • Define system-level RF architecture, balancing trade-offs between analog, digital, and hybrid beamforming approaches under SWaP and thermal constraints
  • Conduct electromagnetic simulations (CST, HFSS) to optimise performance, including radiation patterns, efficiency, impedance matching, and scan capability
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with RF, electronics, DSP, mechanical, and thermal teams to ensure fully integrated system performance
  • Contribute to the development and validation of digital beamforming algorithms
  • Oversee the full hardware lifecycle, including fabrication, testing, environmental qualification, and validation
  • Support system-level integration activities and RF performance analysis
  • Investigate field performance, troubleshoot anomalies and drive continuous improvement
  • Provide mentorship and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and rigorous engineering standards

Experience Required

  • MSc or PhD in Antenna Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 8+ years experience in antenna/RF design or research (including academic work)
  • Strong grounding in electromagnetic theory and antenna design, particularly phased arrays
  • Proven track record delivering antenna or phased-array systems
  • Hands-on experience with CST, HFSS, or similar EM simulation tools
  • Solid understanding of beamforming architectures (analog, digital, hybrid)
  • Programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C#, or C++) are advantageous
  • Experience with antenna measurement techniques and test environments
  • Familiarity with prototyping and fabrication processes
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)

If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply directly or get in touch with iO Associates to find out more. We welcome applications from individuals who may not meet every requirement but bring relevant experience or a strong potential to succeed in the role.
